Comment on Open Workshops by Vanessa Kneale http://www.kinyei.org/projects/openlearning#comment-426 Vanessa Kneale Sun, 22 Jul 2012 10:09:12 +0000 #comment-426 Hello Kinyei! Reading over all these past workshops have got me inspired! I am currently volunteering at Phare Ponleu Selpak teaching modern dance. I am passionate about dance not only for its capacity of expression but also for its benefits in health. Perhaps Kinyei would be interested in dance or fitness workshop. Apart from the body there is also the mind. I have been pondering about launching a trivia night. Maybe this too could be an event of interest at Kinyei feeding the community brain. Feel free to share your thoughts of any of these ideas and perhaps we can meet! Cheers! Hello Kinyei!

Comment on Update! to an Unlikely story at Kinyei by Run and Larry http://www.kinyei.org/update-story-kinyei#comment-423 Run and Larry Wed, 20 Jun 2012 01:26:27 +0000 http://www.kinyei.org/?p=1255#comment-423 Congratulations on your success on raising funds. We are so impressed with what your team has accomplished there in Battambang. Run feels very blessed to have found her long lost family members and is enjoying getting reacquainted with sisters and cousins. Sadly, Run's mother passed away less than two weeks before contact was established with her sister. We are so grateful to Phalla who found the key to reunite the family. We are hoping to find a way to provide support to your mission in the future. Keep up the great work. If we can find a way to make a trip to Cambodia, we would love to stop in and say hello. Ihave read your story just after reading a book called 'First they killed my Father' by Loung Ung which is a young girl's autobiographical account of that terrible ttime in Cambodia's history. She also now lives in the US after coming across from the refugee camps in Thailand 30 odd years ago. I can completely understand now how families could have lost each other and it's so great to hear of some 'wholeness' and healing being established by the younger generation. Just posted on LinkedIn and twitter do hopefully more people can learn about your work in Battambang and support it. I lived in PP from 1999-2007 and my business and research focused on social entrepreneurship and technology. My masters thesis might interest you. Your core values are appealing to find a new approach to development which after many years struggling with I think you're on the right track. Great work.
